5 Surprising Habits That Will Make You More Successful in Your Business and Career

I recently had the privilege of attending the DSE 2018 conference in Las Vegas. DSE stands for Discover, Share, and Experience — which sums up the event pretty well because it’s a 3-day conference that showcases all kinds of success strategies related to business and sales.

This event was amazing! I learned so much and met some really inspiring people (like Brandon Hayes). Like I mentioned, success strategies were all over the place at this event — from speakers, panels, activities, booths… everywhere. So you can imagine how many great ideas I got for my life and business during the 3 days I was there.

Well, today I’m going to share with you 15 things (in no particular order) that stood out to me. This is just scratching the surface… there were so many more strategies shared, but these are the top takeaways that I think will provide you with some serious next-level action steps for this coming year.

I would love to hear about your favorite success strategy from DSE 2018 in the comments below!

Here are 5 Surprising Habits That Will Make You More Successful in Your Business and Career: Paul Haarman

1) You have to be able to live with uncertainty to achieve certain levels of success.

What I mean by this is you have to be willing to accept that things may not always go according to plan, or as smoothly as anticipated. Many people are uncomfortable with uncertainty. As humans, we try to grab onto any certainty that comes our way because we want to feel in control of our lives. But sometimes, things don’t go as planned or expected… and that’s OK. The trick is to embrace uncertainty and see it as a positive thing instead of a negative one. This means taking steps each day to take advantage of the opportunities that uncertainty brings your way — even if they’re not perfect opportunities or outcomes.

2) You need a system for pursuing leads and opportunities.

It doesn’t matter how many leads you get if you have no process for following up on them, qualifying them, etc. A lot of people complain about having too many leads, but never do anything with them because they aren’t motivated enough when it comes time to implement this step in the pipeline. If you think that having a system will allow you to just sit back and relax while the leads do all the work for you, think again. Successful people are not lazy! A system gives you certainty because it’s something that will work every time. But you have to implement it yourself if you want it to work for YOU.

3) You need a “sales manager” in your company.

This is someone who focuses on selling the product or service that your company offers. All too often, business owners completely underestimate how important sales really are (even if they’re already struggling with this skill). What about marketing? Well, marketing is great for building up brand awareness and generating interest (and traffic), but what good does it do if you don’t know what to do with all those leads? Once you generate interest, you need someone who can follow up with people and close the sale. Otherwise, it’s like throwing money (time) down the drain.

4) You need to be creating content for your ideal clients every single day.

If you’re trying to build an audience of 100k fans who love your brand, then why are you only posting once a week or once every other week on Facebook? This is NOT how businesses work! Businesses that are successful at building massive audiences don’t post half-heartedly on social media platforms… they post on them ALL THE TIME so their fans never miss out on anything. I know this seems obvious, but many business owners just don’t get it. They post once in a while, but it doesn’t work because they’re not seeing the results they want (which aren’t even that great to begin with). By posting daily (or at least 5-6x/week), you’ll get better results every time!

5) You need to be comfortable putting yourself out there.

There’s this notion that if you’re truly successful, then you MUST have some sort of “guru status” and must be able to share everything about your life on social media. But there are very few messages online from people who are truly genuine… yet many business owners still think that sharing info about their lives will somehow attract leads or customers. Trust me, nobody gives an f*** what you do, and what you become.

Conclusion by Paul Haarman:

The Little Giant is a great value proposition for the budget-conscious gamer looking for an affordable desktop gaming system. It delivers very good performance in mainstream applications and features a stylish design with customizable lights. The addition of a dedicated graphics card turns it into a powerful platform for casual gamers who want to play some of the latest titles at decent settings.
