The ADB provided financial help to build this project. Estimated costs have increased from the original estimate of Rs41 billion (US$260 million) to Rs71 billion (US$440 million). Even though it is Pakistan’s most costly BRT system, officials in the province contend that similar programs in Islamabad and Lahore cost Rs44.31 billion (US$280 million) and Rs59.65 billion (US$370 million), respectively.
