The ADB provided financial help to build this project. Estimated costs have increased from the original estimate of Rs41 billion (US$260 million) to Rs71 billion (US$440 million). R48.8 billion ($300 million) will be borrowed for the project by the provincial government. Even though it is Pakistan’s most costly BRT system, officials in the province contend that similar programs in Islamabad and Lahore cost Rs44.31 billion (US$280 million) and Rs59.65 billion (US$370 million), respectively.
